Specialty Coffee Blends, Named for the Moment.

Nordfell is a North London specialty coffee roaster founded by Reuben, who grew up among the Lake District fells, spent the early part of his career in Scandinavia, and constructed the brand name from the etymology connecting both: Nord (Old Norse for north) and Fell (Cumbrian dialect for mountain, descended from the Old Norse fjäll that early Scandinavian settlers brought to the Lakes). The result is a small family-run roastery with two clear instincts — a serious commitment to specialty Arabica coffee, ethically sourced from small farms in South America, Central America, Africa, and Asia, and a quietly editorial approach to how the coffee is presented. Blends are named not for their roast level or origin, the usual approach, but for the moment you might drink them: Thinking Time, The Explorer, The Artist, Sunday Vibes, Bold Ideas. The labels themselves get a design treatment more often associated with independent fashion brands than with coffee bags.

The range covers the named blends alongside rotating single-origin offerings — currently Guatemala, Rwanda, and El Salvador — each available in 250g (£11.50) or 1kg (£35) bags. The Nordfell Blend itself is the everyday house pour: chocolate and caramel notes, smooth profile, designed to work as both an espresso base and a milky-coffee carrier, which is the workhorse role most home roasters quietly need their coffee to fill. A subscription model runs alongside the one-off purchases — ten percent discount, flexible weekly to six-weekly deliveries, edit, pause, or cancel at any time — for households where running out of coffee is a quietly serious administrative failure. Orders before midday ship the same day on Royal Mail Tracked-48; the bags are recyclable; customer service is handled directly by the small team rather than outsourced. The whole proposition is the more substantive version of the design-led-coffee-brand pitch: serious about both the coffee and the design, in roughly equal measure.
