Music From Big Blue is the bricks-and-mortar home of Last Night From Glasgow — the ethical Scottish record label founded in 2016 by Ian Smith, a former financial services professional who'd had quite enough of the music industry exploiting young artists. Tucked into Unit 10 of The Hidden Lane in Finnieston, the shop takes its name from the unit's famously blue interior — a small, characterful corner of Glasgow's most quietly creative quarter, where the label operates its not-for-profit, patron-funded business model with artists kept properly at the centre of it all.
The shop stocks vinyl, CDs, tapes and label merchandise from LNFG's roster of Scottish and international independents — including The Bluebells, Pearl Charles, Mull Historical Society, Brontës, The Anchoress, China Crisis and Sister John — alongside reissues, exclusive pressings and event tickets for the label's regular showcase nights across the city. Shop manager Julia runs in-person consultations for visitors looking to discover new releases, join the label's patron membership scheme, or simply talk records for an afternoon. The kind of considered, conversational service that distinguishes a genuine independent record shop from a chain stockroom.
