Award-Winning Seagrass Baskets. Handmade by Helen, Tested by Her Children.

Bellybambino was founded in Norfolk by Helen — mother of three, and a woman who reached a point with toy storage that most parents will recognise. Something had to be done, and whatever it was needed to look good in the room as well as hold the chaos at bay. The answer was seagrass belly baskets: hand-woven from natural seagrass, hand-embroidered and hand-painted with animal characters that have their own distinct personalities. Lions, seahorses, crabs, jellyfish, dinosaurs, octopuses — each face slightly different from the last because each basket is woven by hand, which is precisely the kind of variation that makes them worth having. All new designs are tested on Helen's own children first, which is the most efficient quality assurance process available to a parent.

The baskets won Gold at the Made for Mums Awards 2020 for Best Nursery Accessory, then won again in 2021 for Best Eco Friendly/Sustainable Product — both times tested by judges and home testers in real families. British Vogue, Tatler and House & Garden have featured the range. Stacey Solomon recommended them in her book Tap to Tidy. Sales have reached New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, Sydney, Beijing and Hawaii, which is a considerable radius for a basket made in Norfolk. They work in a nursery, a living room, a boat, a dog's corner — anywhere that needs something genuinely considered to contain the things that accumulate there.
